I came across these images of a new work by Jeffrey Allen Price on Facebook. It is described as, "an obelisk made of ice that will be erected at high noon (Stofka Garden) and be on view until it melts away and vanishes like a lost civilization or fallen empire.

Offering strength and versatility the Skidshelf is inspired by the simplicity and utility of shipping pallets aka "skids."
Skidshelf can be configured to hold a variety of media and equipment and is offered in oak, maple or scrap-wood. Each Skidshelf is custom made, signed and numbered and requires a four-week lead time. (Pictured in oak measuring 48"H x 22.5"W x 15.5"D)

I came across this project on Core77's photo series on Milan Design Week 2010. Unfold showed off a custom modded Rapid Prototying machine kit from Bits from Bytes. The kit was changed from the original system which uses melted plastic injected into the 3D part to using wet clay. The wet clay can then be fired to create durable ceramics.

I came across an article in an engineering e-zine about using rapid prototyping as a primary manufacturing process. Instead of making prototypes of things that will be later created using traditional techniques, the final objects are simply created using rapid prototyping. This of course makes it possible to have unlimited variations and customizations from one product to the next, and also allows for ideas that might have a very niche audience.
